Her body is her business. Kourtney Kardashian has become a vocal advocate of body positivity, opening up about her stretch marks, weight gain and more.
The reality star alarmed fans in February 2018 when she compared her weight to her 8-year-old son Mason‘s in a deleted scene from Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “Guess what? I gained a pound,” she announced in the clip. “I’m 98 [pounds].”
She then added: “You know Mason is 62 [pounds]?” The difference between their weights at the time was a mere 36 pounds.
As time went on, Kardashian began to embrace her physique, thanks to her focus on healthy habits. “There are moments when I care about what people say and others when I don’t at all,” she told GQ Mexico in her December 2018 cover story. “I have to constantly practice self-confidence and remind myself that negative comments come from people who don’t really know me and are not in my situation.”
The Poosh founder, who shares Mason, daughter Penelope and son Reign with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, noted at the time how important fitness is to her. “Being a mother to me is the most important thing because it’s what’s in my heart,” she gushed. “Then I would say exercising. Not only for my body, but because it does my mind a lot of good.”
Kardashian also applauded the shifting perspective toward women’s bodies. “Women have become more strong and powerful,” she said. “For example, this movement about celebrating our bodies has helped us love ourselves as we are, instead of trying to be something different.”
Elsewhere in her profile, the TV personality shared her passion for nutrition. “I used to do very specific diets,” she explained. “I learned something from all of them and incorporated them into my lifestyle. But I’m not so strict anymore.”
Kardashian went on to discuss her confidence too. “I am very comfortable in my own skin,” she said. “I like to be naked in my house.”
